Great for skins

First off this is not for good product like pickles since alum is made from aluminum and aluminum is linked to high risk of Alzheimer's disease. I use it for preserving animal hides by making a pickling solution out of it. It works great to stop the rotting of furs and keep the hair intact. Your hide will not be perfect for a super long time though since it will turn into an acid over time and ruin your hide. But that takes many years if you do it correctly. I like the price and size of the alum. It is way cheaper than buying the little 1.9 oz containers from the store. It is also packed well with bubble rap and in a box if you buy two 5 pound bags like I did. It arrived within about 3 or 4 days of placing an order. Eventually when I use up my supply I will probably buy more if the price is right. The customer service lady I spoke to before buying was very helpful and said this is not the alum for making rock crystals which is great. It is the kind for pickles.....and preserving fur when mixed with salt. Lol. Over all very happy but none of this will be ingested by me no way. I haven't used it yet but have used other brands and am sure it will work since it's the same ingredient just cheaper than where I bought from before. Extremely satisfied. If you need something for keeping pickles crunchy besides this look into using a grape leaf. Look online for more info on how. It works pretty well.
